UK Car of the Year 2018

After winning the award for Best Medium Crossover, the Volvo XC60 went up against 12 other cars and claimed the top honour of UK Car of the Year 2018. The close contest saw the XC60 beat the Skoda Kodiaq by 1 point, with the BMW 5 Series coming in 3rd place.

The Volvo XC60 kicked off the now massively popular mid-size SUV sector way back in 2008. XC60 now has a lot of upmarket competition in the Audi Q5 and the Jaguar F Type. In terms of looks, the XC60 mirrors the larger XC90 - they have the same sloping bonnet and the trademark Thor's hammer headlights that now extend to the grille.

The XC60 is better sized than the XC90 as it has no seats in the boot. The car of the year meets the usual high benchmark for a quality minimalist, buttonless dashboard that houses an excellent infotainment system. You are able to control most of the car functions through a 9inch touchscreen - really comparable to an iPad and also available with Spotify. The XC60 is certainly well put together and offers outstanding safety and crash protection. Comfort is a key value of Volvo.
